Seed Vault named one of the 50 most influential projects

Since its inauguration in 2008, more than one million seed samples have been deposited to Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Genebanks worldwide have chosen to use this facility to store duplicates of their seed collections for long-term safekeeping.

Today, the initiative was recognised by the organisation Project Management Institute , as they named the Seed Vault the tenth most influential project over the last 50 years.
